That's Why It Was Called Bridgeport

These photos show the covered bridge constructed in 1862 over the South Yuba River at Bridgeport in Nevada County. The bridge, the longest single-span covered bridge still in existence (251 feet), is part of the South Yuba River State Park. The view above shows the south end of the bridge; the view below was taken from the present-day highway bridge on Pleasant Valley Road. The covered bridge is no longer used for vehicular traffic but pedestrians still can use it.
