
California Route 267 has its southern endpoint at Tahoe Vista, on the north shore of Lake Tahoe. CA 267 is a direct route between the communities along the north shore and Truckee. As I drove on CA 267 south of Truckee, it gave me the weird optical illusion of seeming to go downhill while having to accelerate because I was really going uphill.
This sign assembly also shows an instance, relatively rare but not totally unknown, of a three-digit marker whose numerals are squeezed into a standard "miner's spade" marker that's usually used for one-digit or two-digit routes.
