Highway S22 between Borrego Springs and the Salton Springs changes markedly in character at the Imperial-San Diego county line. You can even see it in the signs marking the county border. Obviously reflecting the availability of greater resources, the San Diego County side of the road seemed to be in better shape than the Imperial County side when this photo was taken in April 2005.
