No Walking on Mission Street

DONT WALK sign on Mission Street in San Francisco

The last vestige of non-symbolic walk and don't walk pedestrian signals in San Francisco was a set of signals along Mission Street downtown. New signals were being erected when this photo was taken in November 2002. The new signals, which featured the new San Francisco standard of ugly LED blobs that sort of look like a hand (orange light) and a pedestrian (white light), replaced these older signals in 2002 and 2003.

This signal was at Fremont and Mission. See it in its walk phase.
