Windmills are associated with the Netherlands, but the Danes have them, too, as do the Danish-Americans of Solvang. Solvang is often called "that Dutch town" by Californians who don't seem to know any better (you would think all the references to Vikings, Copenhagen, and even the Hamlet Motel would provide a clue). And, yet, there is a "Dutch Shop" in Solvang. It's still California, though: niet roken is posted at the front door for the benefit of nonsmokers.
