A side view of the Chouteau Bridge, looking west-southwest, appeared much different and possibly more interesting in 1998, but the bridge was rickety and unsafe. It's a lot safer now, as you can see in this photo taken in September 2008. The new bridge was completed and open to traffic in December 2001.
