Lafayette County War Memorial

Lexington war memorial on Missouri River bluff

On Highland Avenue, a Lexington city street that runs at the top of the river bluff overlooking the south bank of the river, a memorial to Lafayette County veterans was established about the same time the 1925 bridge was built. This structure, at the foot of the steps leading down from Highland Avenue to the south end of the bridge, was placed to face southbound drivers almost head-on as they exited the old bridge.
