The route map for US 66 from the 1927 Missouri official road map shows the route between the Oklahoma border near Joplin to St. Louis. Before 1926, the route was State Highway 14. In 1926, US 66 was designated US 60. What was then US 62 was subsequently renumbered US 60. US 66's modern equivalent is Interstate 44.
