The route log for US 24 from the 1928 Missouri official road map shows major points along the route between Kansas City and St. Louis. Note that each endpoint of the route was each city's major railway station, referred to here as each city's "Union Depot", more commonly known as "Union Station" in both cities.
US 40 was also concurrent with US 61 in St. Charles County and in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
