From Suspension Cables to Other Cables

Christopher Bond cable-stayed bridge in Kansas City, Mo.

In 2010, the Christopher Bond Bridge replaced the Paseo Bridge between North Kansas City and Kansas City. The Paseo Bridge was the only suspension bridge used on a Missouri highway. The Bond bridge is a cable-stayed bridge, a design increasingly found in Missouri and nearby states. This photo, on Interstates 29 and 35 as well as US 71, was taken on the southern approach of the bridge in September 2012.
