Just south of Neosho on Missouri 59, Business US 71 joins the route. At this location, the westbound section of what is now Business 71 was formerly designated Route AA until the US 71 freeway was built, bypassing Neosho to the west. Missouri 59 now runs along the former US 71 from Neosho south to Anderson.
