No, this isn't a photo from Tennessee or North Carolina! In the aftermath of the opening of the Emerson Bridge, a new pedestrian bridge was being built in Cape Girardeau over Missouri 74. The road was closed one day to permit pouring of concrete for the bridge piers. James Baughn reports that every sign along the detour route was marked as US 74. This photo was taken on South Sprigg Street, which was the former route of Missouri 74 until the new approach to the Emerson Bridge was constructed.
