There's a surprise on one of these markers. Michael Summa notes that the Route FF marker is stamped with an indication that it was made in 1982, a relatively late date for one of the small-sized reassurance markers to be installed. By the end of the decade, most of the small reassurance markers on Missouri highways, once a distinctive feature of the state's roads, were replaced by standard-sized markers.
