A Different Shape for Missouri 149 in Macon County

Unusual Missouri marker outline during US 36 construction in Macon County, Mo. (2005)

The unusual Missouri outline shape first seen on Missouri 152 in Liberty showed up again in 2005 during construction on US 36 in Macon County. Even more unusual is the font. It's definitely not FWHA Series B, C, or D!

There were other examples of detour markers along this route as well.

Access to Missouri 149 and the community of New Cambria had to be re-routed because of the construction of a second pair of lines. The project filled in a gap between the divided highway that ended in Linn County east of Marceline and another segment bypassing Macon.

This photograph was taken on Labor Day 2005.
