After a new section of US 71 was opened near Pineville in August 2007, detour signs were needed for Business US 71. Instead of using a Business banner, press-on letters were used instead for the business-route designation on the detour markers. You can see the standard configuration in the background at ths intersection with Route EE just north of Pineville.
