Destination signs at Missouri crossroads always include one destination for the road you're on, and one destination for the road you could take. Usually, the destinations indicated are cities, but sometimes, a junction is indicated instead.
The photo for this sign on Missouri 28 at Route C in Dixon, taken in 2002, shows two junctions listed. Also note the redundant usage: Route I-44. This is more or less usual in Missouri, though few people would actually say it that way.
That said, when I visited Dixon again in 2007, I found another sign on Route C approaching this intersection where the word Route wasn't used!
