Even though David Backlin took this photo on the day of Interstate 49's official dedication, December 12, 2012, the Interstate 49 shield was missing from this gantry at the eastern terminus of Missouri 171 and Business Loop 49 in Carthage. The route continues into Carthage as Missouri 571.
The sign assembly marking the end of Missouri 171 and Business Loop 49 is mounted on the right-hand post for this gantry.
