It's rare for a supplemental route to run concurrently with a numbered state route. Missouri 249 was extended along a series of supplemental routes in 2004. This section is in Carterville, just a mile or so from 249's north endpoint at Missouri 171 and Business US 71. Note the absence of directional banners from both markers. Also note that both markers are the "wide" 24" x 32" markers that Missouri began to use in 2000 for three-digit numbered routes and two-letter supplemental routes.
