Interstate 229 is a loop route through St. Joseph, including the downtown section of the city. It intersects Interstate 29 at both ends. Exit 43 is for the south end of I-229. I-229 is also the most direct way from I-29 to the St. Joseph airport, as indicated by the airplane symbol on the sign.
