Let's start with what's right with this picture: the Interstate 470 marker. The use of the narrower-style Missouri outline with a three-digit route number is acceptable Missouri practice. So is the use of the "pointy" outline (see this comparison for the difference). What's wrong? The use of a "wide" rectangular sign blank for the narrower outline style! The rest is too much sign for the marker. How should it appear? A photo of mine from 2008 shows a correctly manufactured state route marker on the same route.
