US 40, US 61, and Interstate 70 in Wentzville

This set of signs on Interstate 70 eastbound at US 61 in Wentzville, photographed in 1978, is interesting for several reasons. Of course, it's where US 40 diverges from Interstate 70 in order to take a separate route into St. Louis. Also note the button reflectors on the Interstate 70 shield, not that common in Missouri even during the heyday of button reflectors on freeways signs. And finally, this intersection was the first place that I ever saw exit numbers in use in Missouri. Exit 210 was so labeled as early as 1972.
