Where one route ends, others begin on the northwest side of Carthage, looking westbound from Missouri 571. Missouri 571 ends at the interchange with Interstate 49 and US 71. At the other side of the interchange, Business Loop 49 and Missouri 171 begin.
The Business Loop 49 designation replaced the Business US 71 designation when the Interstate 49 designation was officially added to the US 71 freeway through western Missouri on December 12, 2012.
