US 66 was "revived", briefly, in Joplin during the replacement of the 7th Street Viaduct along Missouri 66 and Business Loop 44 in the southwest Missouri city during the late 1990s. Scott Maness explains that there were no detour signs for Business Loop 44, and the detour signs for Missouri 66 instead used the US 66 shield.
