Looking west from the McGee Street overpass, this 1998 view of the south freeway loop (I-35 and I-670) shows Bartle Hall in the background. The convention center is built over the freeway with a technique similar to that of a cable-stayed bridge. City convention officials brag that this construction technique gives Bartle the largest unobstructed indoor space in the world. Imagine an auto show over a freeway. In Kansas City, they can do that at Bartle Hall!
