US 169 in Grayson

Curve and lane shift warning

An unusual warning sign appears for northbound traffic on US 169 as it approaches Missouri 116 north of Grayson, in Clinton County. It's essentially telling drivers that there will be a center lane for left turns. To make room for it, the lane will shift over to the right. I haven't seen this type of sign anywhere else in Missouri. Perhaps the sign was necessary because the intersection is just over a hill from this spot and visibility isn't the best.

Additionally, the same warning-sign assembly appears on both sides of the road. This photo, taken in October 2003, shows the sign that was posted on the west side of the road (but still intended for northbound traffic.

A junction marker for Missouri 116 can be seen in the distance as well.
