The Liberty Memorial and Union Station in Kansas City

Liberty Memorial in Kansas City Union Station as seen from the Liberty Memorial

After several years of renovations, the Liberty Memorial (left) in Kansas City re-opened in 2002. It provides a great vantage point over downtown and Crown Center. It was a foggy day when these photos were taken on March 12, 2003, so I didn't go up into the tower, but I did get a nice view of Union Station (above) from the courtyard of the memorial. The downtown skyline is visible in the background, as are the four towers of Bartle Hall (in the left of the photo) and the historic Western Auto building (to the right).

The Liberty Memorial honors World War I veterans. The museum's displays emphasize World War I, with numerous artifacts and maps.
