The Wider Missouri Shield

Missouri began using wider sign blanks for three-digit highways in 2000. Even before that, wider markers could occasionally be found along or near expressways or freeways in Missouri. So it's hard to say whether this US 160 marker south of the James River Expressway in Springfield is part of the new standard for wider markers or whether it pre-dates the new standard. The East banner without the larger initial letter indicates that it might be an older sign.
