In 2004, Missouri 249 was extended northward along a series of three supplemental routes. Two of those routes are at this intersection on the east side of Carterville. About a mile north and northwest of this intersection, 249 and Route HH end at Missouri 171.
Also note that all markers are the "wide" 24" x 32" markers that Missouri began to use in 2000 for three-digit numbered routes and two-letter supplemental routes.
