As if the wide 24" x 32" Missouri outline markers weren't strange enough in 2000 for a longtime traveler of Missouri's highways, that was the same year that a rectangular marker for supplemental routes was introduced. Dave Backlin captured photos of both the wide marker on northbound US 71/Missouri 59 north of Anderson and an older square marker on the southbound side of the highway.
Note also the somewhat larger font on the new sign, compared to the older sign.
