Missouri counties have their own highway systems. These are not the same as the letter-designated supplemental highway system, which is controlled and maintained by the state.
Most counties use street-corner style signs to indicate route designations or names. Ron Wilbanks found this increasingly rare cutout-style marker in Pemiscot County, in the Bootheel. The unusual shape is actually the shape of the county!
