Here's an example of the unique county road shields used in Perry County. In this case, the "999" and down arrow indicate that the addresses along this road are all under 999. (This is along Highway 51 just west of the Chester Bridge.) James Baughn indicates that these signs were probably installed in connection with E-911 service. The "P.C.R." abbreviation stands for Perry County Road, which is somewhat redundant when the word "County" already appears near the bottom of the marker.
