This sign showing the way to Southwest Missouri State University is on the James River Freeway (US 60) eastbound at National Avenue. The university's name changed at the end of August 2005. It is now called Missouri State University, supposedly befitting its status as the second-largest university in the state. However, there is the potential for confusion with the constitutionally established University of Missouri system, which Missouri State University will still not be a part of.
