Since 1950, the bridge across the Missouri River has been replaced with the Ike Skelton bridge east of Lexington, also causing part of Missouri 13 to be realigned on a new freeway east of Lexington. Missouri 13 along 13th Street in Lexington was replaced by Business Missouri 13. Alternate US 24 no longer exists; US 24 is now represented by Missouri 224. US 24 runs along a short limited-access divided highway on the south side of Lexington.
