The inset map for Mexico, from the official 1950 Missouri highway map. US 54 now bypasses Mexico to the southeast on a "Super-2" roadway. The former route of US 54 is now Business US 54. (Liberty is essentially Mexico's main street.) Missouri 15 and 22 have been realigned within Mexico onto a new street, Muldrow, bypassing the downtown area to the west. Those route designations have also been extended along Business US 54 to terminate at US 54 south of Mexico.
