From the rear side of the 1957 official Missouri highway map, another map shows the state's "roadside parks", many of which still function today. Roadside parks are rest areas. They aren't as full-featured as Interstate rest areas. They typically don't have restrooms, for example. The map also indicated the locations of historic markers, which have become more numerous in Missouri as time has gone on.
