The legend for the 1958 official Missouri highway map compared the symbols on the map with the markers actually seen on the state's highways. Also note that the Interstate highway system was not yet shown on this map. The "U.S. Interstate Highways" that the legend refers to were still U.S. highways. Actual Interstate designations wouldn't come until 1959.
