North-South, Too, on US 66

Pre-1937 Historic US 66, Albuquerque, NM

Before US 66 was re-routed through the Tijeras Canyon east of Albuquerque in 1937, it wandered through New Mexico via Santa Fé, going back through Albuquerque on present-day Fourth Street (formerly US 85, currently unmarked NM 313).

Similar markers can be found on Cerillos Road and other city streets in Santa Fé. There are relatively few of the markers with the "pre-1937" designation in Albuquerque.

This photo was taken in May 2004 near San Lorenzo Avenue and Fourth Street NW.
