Los Ojos Have It

Los Ojos means "the eyes", though in New Mexican Spanish, it could also mean "the springs". The snowcapped mountains in the background, though, indicate that a different kind of spring has yet to arrive in the higher elevations, as shown in this photo taken on US 64-US 84 in May 2008. Los Ojos is a small village very near the Rio Arriba county seat of Tierra Amarilla; NM 95 is a spur into the village. The route continues to El Vado Lake, hence the sign advertising fishing guides and boat rentals.
