NM 502 plaque for the scenic route named after a former U.S. senator from New Mexico As it descends the mesa on which Los Alamos was built, NM 502 east of the city provides a panamoric view of the Los Alamos Canyon and the San Ildefonso Pueblo reservation. The route is named after former U.S. Senator and Secretary of Agriculture Clinton Anderson, a notable figure in New Mexico history (right).
