A General Telephone long-distance slip from Columbia, Missouri, apparently from 1966. This call was made from KFRU radio to the news desk of one of the radio networks with which KFRU was affiliated. Columbia did have direct-dial long distance by 1966.
If the call did not originate from Columbia, the originating exchange was marked on the slip. The exchanges served by the Columbia operators were:
- ASH, Ashland
- CENTL, Centralia
- CLARK, Clark
- HALL, Hallsville
- HSBG, Harrisburg (no longer a separate exchange, merged into the Columbia rate center)
- ROCH, Rocheport
- STEV, probably Stephens, probably merged into the Columbia rate center
- STGN, Sturgeon
Note the use of letter prefixes for the New York City number, while the Columbia number (in the GIbson 9 exchange) is given in seven-digit form.
