Not Much Farther to Go, Anyway

End of Dutchess County Route 41 at Hyde Park Station

If the road went much farther, you'd be at the Hudson River; as it is, Dutchess County Route 41 ends at historic Hyde Park Station in the town of Hyde Park. You may note the old-style telephone crossarm full of glass insulators in the background. The Hyde Park Station was used frequently by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on trips to and from his home, nearby in Hyde Park.

This photo was taken on a dark, wet day in May 2010. The dark conditions made the colors of the highway sign stand out in an odd way.
