On the west side of the Hawthorne Bridge in downtown Portland, Oregon, a plaque indicates that the bridge was designed by a Kansas City engineering firm, Waddell & Harrington. A successor firm, HTNB, is still in the engineering business. The Hawthorne Bridge is one of six crossing the Willamette River in downtown Portland.
