In May 2010, New York state route 9G was closed north of its intersection with US 9 between Rhinebeck and Red Hook. Though the closure was in neighboring Columbia County, the detour was routed onto US 9. This sign assembly shows the northbound 9G marker covered by a black plastic bag.
A detour marker for 9G can be seen in the distance. On the sign assembly itself are trailblazers for the New York State Thruway across the river in Ulster County, and the Taconic State Parkway, farther east in Dutchess County. Both routes roughly parallel US 9 through the Hudson Valley.
