Around Hattiesburg, Mississippi, sign assemblies such as these are advance signs for exits, with highway markers mounted on the posts of a smaller guide sign. Normally, a big guide sign would be used, but it appears that many of those signs were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. This assembly is on US 49 at US 98 just south of Hattiesburg.
