Excerpt of 1932 San Francisco street map

... San Francisco without any bridges. That's what it was like in 1932, before the Golden Gate and Bay bridges were built. There were indications of the bridges to come, though, especially for the Bay Bridge (see the dotted line in the South of Market area). I have indicated the modern bridge locations on this map along with the locations of a couple of other well-known landmarks. Interestingly, highway routes have not been indicated on this map, although they were shown on a regional map on the other side of this sheet.

This is a fair use excerpt of an H.M. Goushá map distributed by Shell Oil.
