The Fox Theater on Telegraph Avenue in "uptown" Oakland is a remnant of downtown Oakland's more vibrant past. Efforts are underway to restore the former movie theater to its Art Deco glory, but they have been slow. The marquee was restored in 2004, but much interior work remains to be done. The theater is just a couple of blocks away from the Paramount Theater on Broadway, which has been fully restored.
