Up Close on the Highway 49 Rainbow Arch Bridge

Now that this rainbow arch bridge built in 1922 is no longer used for California 49 traffic west-northwest of Nevada City, you can take a closer look at some of the decorative detail on the bridge.

The staircase leads to the banks of the South Yuba River, which this bridge and the newer Highway 49 bridge both cross.
