Miles Around the Lake

Lake Tahoe mile marker

Small wooden posts such as this one count the miles around Lake Tahoe, starting from the intersection of California routes 28 and 89 at Tahoe City, and continuing clockwise around the lake. Route 28 keeps the same numerical designation in both states as it forms the northern and northeastern part of the route that loops around the lake, while US 50 and California route 89 are other the designations used along the loop.

The dot on the lake outline indicates the nearest location on the lake shore. This marker is at the California-Nevada line adjacent to Incline Village, Nevada at Crystal Bay.
