The End of Interstate 670 in Kansas City

End of Interstate 670 in Kansas City, Mo.

The southeast end of the Kansas City freeway loop doesn't look like this any more. This photo was taken in 1998, three years before the Watkins Drive parkway and freeway, now designated US 71, was extended to this location. It also clearly marks the end of I-670, a short spur between downtown Kansas City, Missouri and downtown Kansas City, Kansas.

Eastbound traffic into downtown Kansas City, Missouri sees I-670 designated as Alternate I-70 as well as I-670. I-670 helps relieve traffic loads on the old Intercity Viaduct, along which I-70 travels over the river bottoms on the Kansas-Missouri border.
