What's that in the distance as you approach the intersection of US 50 and US 63 east of Jefferson City? Look carefully.
Yes, it's a state outline -- not a US shield outline! Mark Stauter captured photos of these signs, in use during construction of a new interchange of these two highways east of the state capitol. Mark also took a close-up photo of the same sign assembly.
David Backlin has also contributed something he's found: a picture of the same intersection in 1954, printed in an annual report of the Missouri Highway Commission.
